The Great Lake Taupo region is your ideal winter playground. With the largest ski area in the southern hemisphere, Mt Ruapehu boasts 3 separate ski areas: Whakapapa, Turoa and Tukino, all within the Tongariro National Park, a Dual World Heritage area. They are located close enough for Whakaipo Lodge to be an excellent base to experience these volcanic ski fields.
